Kazakhstan is very rich in oil reserves, with proven reserves ranking seventh in the world and second in the CIS. According to the data released by the Kazakhstan Reserve Committee, the current recoverable oil reserves of Kazakhstan are 4 billion tons, the proven reserves of onshore oil are 4.8-5.9 billion tons, and the proven reserves of oil in the Caspian Sea region of Kazakhstan are 8 billion tons.
